• UPF 50+ treated fabric: An international fabric protection index or "Ultraviolet Protection Factor" (UPF) has been defined for fabrics with a European standard of 15 to 50. This term is used exclusively for fabrics. UPF-treated fabric is a way of protecting the skin against the potentially harmful effects of UV rays. The higher the index, the better the protection. If the fabric is recognized as having an index greater than 50, it will be certified UPF 50+. With a UPF 50+ fabric, 98% of ultraviolet rays are blocked, making it the best fabric protection available today.
