AIRCRAFT HISTORY IN THE BACKGROUND:

1. Wright Brothers Flyer - it was in North Carolina in 1903 that this invention flew 36 m in 12 seconds! The premier heavier-than-air plane that flew like the wind!

2. Curtiss P-40 shark-mouth aircraft from the first half of the 1930s. One of the main American military aircraft of the Second World War (Pearl Harbor) and... a Hollywood star! This plane was piloted (in the movies) by John Wayne or... future US President Ronald Reagan!

3. Silver-blue Helldiver, also known as "The Beast", from the same period. The premier dives and rises in seconds.

4. Douglas with arrow. Passenger aircraft first built in the 1930s. Transatlantic commercial airliners that could carry from 20 to 60 people - a real game-changer! Legend has it that the contract for these planes destined for America was signed... on cigarette paper!

5. Big, wonderful planes like Airbus and Boeing. The largest of them can seat 850 passengers and travel at almost 1,000 km/h (that's 3 soccer fields in one second!).

6. Supersonic flight, in which the aircraft reaches speeds faster than the speed of sound. The speed of sound is around 1200 km/h, and these planes can reach 2100 km/h (about 3.5 hours from Europe to New York!). The last aircraft of this type flew in 2003, but we may well see new ones in 2027-2030!
